August 19, 2003:
Holy moly! It's starting to look like a bike! Notice the motor plate is on, as well as the head tube (complete with bearings). At this point, the frame's been stretched a good 6+ inches, the head tube raised about 4-5 inches, and the rake of the head tube is increased. Since this machine needs to be transported behind a *cough* BMW *cough*, it's overall wheelbase has to be kept relatively compact so it'll fit on a small tire trailer. Future member, Vitek, is rumored to be itching to make a stretched chopper soon, so stay tuned for more zaniness.
We needed to do something to cover up those nasty looking welds!! Eventually, all of the ugly welds will be ground down and smoothed out prior to paint. I may even slap some bondo on there to make it rival a Jesse James or Orange County ride! Then again, maybe not!
That's right. I'm bad. The forks need to be lengthened, the seat mounted (and built?), and that'll complete most of the custom fab work needed. Now we have to wait for more parts to be delivered. Our next build date is scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd. Stay tuned for more follow-ups over the next couple of weeks while the mini takes shape!
