Brake Dancin'!

I get inspired to make something kindof stylish!

After staring at the rear brake for more than a little while, I played around with a simple "shark fin" bracket on the lower arm to hold the caliper, but it just didn't look right. That's when I landed on this simple but kind of cool bracket. Using the axle as the center I scribed the arcs and then repeated the mounting hole pattern for looks. Then using every clamp I could find I mounted it up.

Concentricity!

Here you can see the rotor. It was originally about a 9" rotor, but to keep the rear as narrow as possible I reduced the diameter to about 6". This let me tuck the caliper into the wheel. Hopefully the smaller diameter won't ruin the stopping power of the brake. It did force the wheel to be mounted with the valve stem on the other side so it doesn't hit the caliper. I'm planning on cross drilling the rotor for more style points.

The twins from next door give it their seal of approval!

Next I fab up a few simple mounting tabs for the fender. Notice I finally ground off all of the frankenstein welds on the fender!

Next comes the test roll!
