Forkin' Around

This has to go smoother than the rear axle. Doesn't it?

Too start, I preassembled the pieces on the bike to determine the axle height. With that identified I drilled the holes for the axle guides and cross cut the angles on the bottom. Next I placed a shaft through the axle holes to hold the forks even and placed it all on a wooden fixture to hold it all parallel and tack weld the top plate...

To locate the bottom plate I placed it all on the bike with the bearings and a thin washer (to make sure it would have a little clearance). Once I had that tack welded, I went ahead and finish welded everything including the axle guides.

Here you can see the stop for the drum brake and angled ends that have been filled.

Hey! It's starting to look like something!

It's definitiely got that low slung dragbike look.

It even looks like it's kindof straight from the front! Elvis is smiling!

Go away. I'm on brake now!
