PAINT!!!
Once I had the tank and fenders bondo'd, sanded and primed,
I called my only friend in the autobody biz and asked very nicely if he would
be willing to take on a silly little project with a very small paint budget
He asked 'How much are you willing to spend?' I wanted to say about $50 max
but could tell by the look in his eyes that he and I were probably in different
arenas. I mumbled something that sounded high to me and knew it was low to him
and he said 'OK'! My specifications were 'paint it any color you want, just put
a Wilco Choppers on it somewhere'. And this is what I got...
Pretty freakin' cool! Metallic green base coat with metallic orange over that and
about 4 or 5 coats of clear. The paint not only looks thick it IS thick and you can
read the newspaper in it's reflection.
Had you asked me if I wanted green and orange, I would have probably so no... but now I love it.
Here is the required Wilco Choppers...
and here it is again on the front side of the rear fender.
I guess the only thing left to do is put it together!!!!
