Here's the short end of my broken crankshaft. One of the carb linkages failed and slammed the butterflies shut on the #5 & #6 cylinders at about 7000 rpm! No piston or valve damage occured! The fact that the break was parallel with the axis of rotation kept the short section turning in perfect time with the valves. We drove the car on the trailer like this!


This wasn't in my car, but it just looks so cool I had to post a picture! This piston was pulled from a 240Z that was brought in to Japanese Auto Tech... towed, not driven.
